he met this girl from reno

whose life was a competition.
she looked just like a china doll with porcelain skin
she knew he'd let her win.
so he fell for her,
as if he fell from his mother into the arms of a lover.
and he swore not to leave her side,
for better or for worse (whichever comes first).
sadly the latter arose.

she met this boy from omaha
whose life was handed to him...
but still, he wanted everything.
his dreams were his ruin,
and she couldn't wake him up.
but the bough broke and he fell.
like the time he fell from his mother
into the arms of a doctor.
so he cried like that first day of his life.
he knew he had broken this beautiful porcelain
and how could their world be the same?
and so it never was the same.
she whispers his name,

history in the making

This particular branch of the wide O'Rourke family tree came to the new world from Ireland,
settled themselves comfortably in Brooklyn in the late 19th century and never left.
Oisin Mathuin Fearghus O'Rourke, known as simply Bear to friends and family,
came from an impossibly large post world war 2 family of nine.
His father owned a local pub just has his father
had before him and so on down the line a few generations.
Oisin being the third son born to his working class parents,
wasn't expected to take over the family pub called "O'Rourke's".
That lovely niche went to his oldest brother, instead Oisin went to school
and got him a good education. Even a comfortable
scholarship to Cornell, being the first in his family
to attend college. Moving the brooklyn native upstate to Ithaca, New York.

As a student teacher at the university, Oisin met a lovely
freshman by the name of Neve Tennyson. Another native of the city, Neve came
from a mixed family of mostly irish and scandinavian decent
and grew up happily in Astoria Queens. The instant chemistry
became apparent between the two and it wasn't long before they
were an item never to be parted again. At the age of twenty, Neve found
herself pregnant and at twenty-eight Oisin became
a husband and father of twin boys Holden and T.S.

Disappointing her feminist friends, Neve picked motherhood
over a potential career and was quite happy managing her ever
increasing family. Luckily for Oisin and Neve, Oisin was
offered a teaching position at an elite private school in manhattan
and Oisin accepted. Moving his family from Ithaca back to Brooklyn.
Finding a comfortable brownstone in the historic district of Brooklyn Heights.
At the time of his move Holden was six and fell in love with his new home right away.

As her family grew, Neve started to give piano lessons to help make ends meet.
She already was teaching her own children and soon neighbors were sending
over their own to learn how to play. Holden turned out to be an excellent student when
it came to the piano and his mother encouraged his musical talent by giving him his
first guitar at the age of ten. At thirteen Holden's older cousin gave up life as
an 80's hair mental band drummer and gave his drums to Holden. Later that
year Holden started to get involved with a few garage bands.

He graduated from public school early at the age of sixteen to his
parents delight and with honors, only to disappoint both his parents
to focus on his music instead of college. Bananafish was starting to
form around the time when Holden first met Loxley Wilde. He was
an eighteen year old underground rock god and she a mere
sixteen year old upper eastside princess.
Still the chemistry thing exploded and well things went on from there.

Always wanting to have a bar of his own, Holden opened "Hooded Spirits"
in Williamsburg with Loxley's help, although he controls most of the business.
The bar is four years old and is doing well, has a dive bar hipster feel
which hosts shows allowing local talent to play during the week and weekends.

Bananafish is well beloved by the local scene and has done a few tours
around the east coast. Holden decided to start his own label,
not comfortable with anything the other labels were offering
and For Esme Records was founded with help from Loxley and other band memebers.

Less than four weeks ago Holden became Mr. Loxley Esme Wilde, before they
moved to the West coast so that Loxley could expand her magazine. Currently
Holden is enjoying the roll of Mr. Mom and recording with his bandmates
using the postal service.
